Ancient Mexico Whistle // 100 BC - 250 AD // Still Functional!
Product Description
Ancient West Mexico, Classic period, c. 100 BC - 250 AD. A rare Nayarit Ixtlan del Rio style animal whistle depicting a stylized dog. The body is hollow and there are perforated holes in strategic places on the underside and extremities which allow several notes to be played when blown through. The body is painted in polychrome, with white, silvery-blue, and yellow/orange stripes, traces of ancient burning visible on the surfaces. The whistle still works with a wonderful high-pitched sound and series of notes still playable!
